What I Wore #6: On Most Days, I Wear Pink

20200311_153633_00004312482201510568033.png

For those of you who have visited or stumbled upon my blog at least once or twice, you probably noticed that I have a soft spot for the color pink. It’s been my favorite ever since I was a kid and I have never really outgrown my love for it, even today (obviously). Most of my things are pink, even the walls of my room and my door. 26 Titles Since Year 1

It’s my birthday today, and this quarantine kind of sucks because I can’t celebrate it with the one person I would have loved to spend it with but I just keep in mind that this is all for the best. We need to stay separated for a while now, so that we can spend more birthdays together in the future.

For the past couple of years, I’ve been doing blog posts about the lessons I’ve learned in my x number of years here on Earth. This year, I thought that maybe I could tweak the concept a little because to be honest, I’m running out of lessons to take note of. Not that I do not learn new things anymore, but it’s just so hard to jot them down year after year. Also, to be honest, I feel like most of the lessons I write were carried over from the past year. So yeah, that concept kinda gets boring in time.

Quarantine Book Recommendation

20200921_104006_0000

Hey, everyone! I know this is a troubling time for all of us. I, personally, suffer from anxiety attacks every once in while whenever I think about the situation that we are all facing today, especially when I come to the realization that we do not know when this global crisis will end.

We are all well-aware that this is a very serious issue and I am, by no means, disregarding the situation, but trying to avoid and spend a little time away from social media and other things that could possibly increase my anxiety per day would help. We all just need to make sure that we are responsible enough to stay indoors for the time-being until all this is over. I cannot stress this enough, and I think I’ve mentioned this in all my social media platforms: Remember, the more we stay indoors and practice social distancing, the sooner we can go back to our normal lives.

So aside from doing my part in making sure to stay indoors to help stop the spread of this virus, I thought that, as a reader, I could at the very least make a recommendation post for readers out there who are stuck at home or even just for the general public who wonders, “What good book should I read next?” Continue reading

Eureka! Moment #2: Book Shields

20200921_103936_0000

I am not really a fan of e-books and audio books because of the following reasons:

  1. I love the scent of physical books.
  2. I enjoy flipping through a book’s pages.
  3. For e-books, I honestly get a migraine when I’m reading from my phone. Don’t get me wrong, I do e-copies of books sometimes, especially when a certain book that I want to read is not available in the Philippines. I just prefer physical copies.
  4. As for audio books, I just don’t get the hang of it yet. I tried, and it’s just not working for me. I usually end up falling asleep. It’s just not the same as “reading.”

As a reader who prefers to read physical books, I always bring a book with me wherever I go. You know, just in case I get some free time or I get bored. Through the years, I have come to the realization that my books get easily damaged inside my bag (e.g., it gets a few dents or folds) and it frustrates me sometimes because no matter how I put it inside my back, it always ends up getting damaged. What I Wore #5: Of Floral Prints & Summer

20200311_153633_00004312482201510568033.png

I’ve been following Farrah Espina for a couple of years now, and she has become one of my favorite influencers recently (in addition to Tricia Gosingtian and Kryz Uy). I find her so adorable with her kawaii look and her fashion sense. She’s also a bit kalog in some of her IG stories!

So why am I talking about her as an introduction for this post? Well, she just happened to post a photo of one of her Sunday outfits and she was at Greenbelt 5 in Makati City. And I am always there during weekdays as my office is just around the corner. Continue reading

2019 Favorite Reads

20200921_104006_0000

How could I have forgotten? I’ve been writing a blog post for my favorite reads almost every year!

This morning, I was decluttering my Google Notes when I realized that I forgot to write a blog post on my favorite books of 2019. Though 2019 wasn’t really a good reading year for me, I don’t think that’s really an excuse for me to forget because I certainly loved most of the books I’ve read, but alas, maybe I’m really starting to grow old (haha). In my last entry for Stuff I’ve Been Reading Lately, I remember rambling about how hard it is for me to finish reading a book these days, so I ended up reading a bunch of mangas. I also mentioned a list of books and mangas that I planned on reading during the holiday vacation. Well, here I am, three months later, and I haven’t really read any of the books I’ve listed. I know it’s a little late, but hey, it’s still February! And I truly believe that we should celebrate love every day, not just on Valentine’s Day.

But since I’ve mentioned it, I would like to share some of my most favorite love stories that have touched my heart one way of another.

Check out top 14 picks, and please don’t hesitate to share yours, too! 😉

My Usual Friday Night

How does my usual Friday night look like, you say? I try to relieve my stresses from the past work week by spending all night in my bedroom, reading a book (and sometimes drinking milk or tea). I just like the peacefulness I get when I’m locked inside my room with no one to bother me — free from the toxicity of the house.

On the days where I don’t feel like reading at all (yes, it happens and I feel guilty about it), I watch random rom-coms or my favorite Netflix series (e.g., Riverdale).

Last year, I was suffering from a very bad reading slump because the book I was reading (Timeline by Michael Crichton) felt really dragging + I am so hooked to Friends and other Netflix shows! I am sort of disappointed with Timeline, though, because I feel like it has so much to offer. After reading half of the book, I decided to just put it down for a while because I really have a lot of books on my TBR.

Currently, I’m reading the second book in the Robert Langdon series by Dan Brown and I’m almost halfway through it. As usual, the fast-paced writing style of Dan Brown kept me up at night. I’m so excited to read all the books in this series.

This post has been more like an update re: my reading status, the reading slump was also the reason why I have nothing to write for my Stuff I’ve Been Reading Lately series. I’ll make up to it next month, I promise.
