Bangkok Book Haul

20230221_135533_0000

Of course, our trip wouldn’t be complete if I don’t drop by bookstores and shop for books. I knew that they have one of my favorite bookstores when travelling in Asia (I haven’t travelled outside of Asia yet, but you get my point), Books Kinokuniya, so it was instantly on our itinerary! But we also dropped by Open House at Central Embassy Mall which I learned from Kathryn Bernardo’s Instagram post when she went to Thailand last year. Ever since I saw her post about this beautiful bookstore, I knew that I wanted to visit it and that’s why I convinced my husband to spend our first anniversary in Thailand.

Open House is located at the 6th floor of Central Embassy mall. Take note, they occupy the WHOLE floor. They sell different kinds of books from educational, cultural, memoirs, and fiction. They also have cafe’s and restaurant’s inside the bookstore! It was really a cool place to visit if you’re a bookworm like me. Oh, and they also offer art materials for painting, drawing, etc. Continue reading

My Signed Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak

I just wanted to share on here how ecstatic I feel that I now have a physical signed copy of Jason Rekulak’s Hidden Pictures! One of my book club friends reached out to Jason and asked if we can directly order a book from him with personal dedications. And lo and behold, Jason never charged us for the books. He just asked us to cover the shipping from Philadelphia to Philippines because it’s quite expensive. He’s absolutely one of the most generous and thoughtful authors we came across with and we are so thankful for this.

Special thanks to the Thrillseekers Book Club PH for making this possible! Truly, it’s the best book club I’ve ever been a part of. ❤

October Reading Plans

20211123_110930_0000

I know I’m not good at following TBRs, but in the past two months, I lowkey tried creating one for myself and I was able to follow it—though not entirely as I usually run out of time to finish all of it, but I was able to stick to it by reading book from that specific list. So I figured that since I was able to that in the past two months, I can now re-introduce this section on my blog.

For this month, I plan to read books that lean towards the spooky and the creepy because, duh, it’s Halloween season! I live for this season and I look forward to it by devouring all things spooky. I am a bit of a scaredy-cat so the most “horror” that I can read are actually more from the thriller side of things like slashers and whodunnits. But this year, I plan on reevaluating my tolerance by reading some horror from authors like Stephen King and Adam Cesare. So without further ado, here are the books I plan to read this month:
stack of books

  • Pet Sematary by Stephen King
  • Mars, May Zombie by Chuckberry J. Pascual
  • The Troop by Nick Cutter
  • Clown in a Cornfield by Adam Cesare
  • The Chestnut Man by Søren Sveistrup

Hopefully I get to read these books and if time permits, I would also like to add other titles like Coraline by Neil Gaiman and Home Before Dark by Riley Sager. How about you? What are you planning to read this month?

Read 5, Buy 1

Hi, everyone! If you’ve been reading my entries on Stuff I’ve Been Reading Lately, you probably noticed that I have a book-buying problem. Please don’t judge me. Haha It would have been fine if I was reading a lot of books, but I can only read so much given my responsibilities and commitments lately. I know I’ve said that I’m proud that I was still able to complete (ahead of time!) my target of reading 12 books this year, and I really am proud of myself for that. Still, I need to control myself from hoarding so many books. Continue reading

2022 Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag

Hi, everyone! I’m doing the Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag a little bit late this year because I’ve been busy with personal stuff in the past three weeks or so. So this tag was created in 2016 by Ely and Chami on BookTube and it has been an ongoing tag around the book community to help bookish people wrap up the first half of their reading year. I have to admit that I haven’t been religiously doing this throughout the years, but here I am this year!

As you all know, I got married this year which is why, at the start of the year, I decided to just set 12 books for my Goodreads reading challenge. I knew for a fact that I wouldn’t have a lot of reading time this year given that I have a lot of adjusting to do. But as of writing, I’ve already completed my goal of 12 books, so I decided to adjust it to 20 books! It’s not much compared to others’ 50+ books a year, but I’m happy that I got past my initial goal early on. Continue reading
