Book Mail: My First Ever Fullybooked Online Purchase

20200921_103919_0000

Hi, everyone! I’m back with another book mail. These arrived along with the other books that I posted before but decided to post them separately because I bought them separately, too. Haha! It just so happened that I had them shipped to my boyfriend’s place and he had it delivered to me all at the same time.

To be honest, I think I’ve bought so many books this year than I ever did in my whole life. The quarantine keeps me feeling anxious and overthinking most of the time and my only escape is online shopping and looking forward to my parcels arriving. Most of my purchases are books (some skincare, of course, but only if I run out of stocks); books keep me so preoccupied which help me avoid overthinking. So without further adieu, here are the titles for this haul:

Book Mail: Septimus Heap by Angie Sage + Percy Jackson & the Olympians

Another book mail that I received during the quarantine is the Septimus Heap series (minus the seventh book) by Angie Sage. My boyfriend bought it for me and sent it to me via Lalamove along with the other book orders that I had shipped at his place. Continue reading

Book Mail: Completing the Fallen Series

20200921_103919_0000

Just like the first book mail that I posted on the blog a couple of weeks ago, this one also has a story: During the first few weeks of quarantine, I saw someone post a photo of some of her books on Facebook’s Marketplace. It caught my attention because of Lauren Kate’s Passion and Rapture books because I have the first two books in the series and have not yet started reading it because I wanted to complete the whole series first. So I sent the seller a message and reserved the books.

During those weeks, I think most stores were still looking for ways to continue their business while practicing social distancing and by not requiring people to actually visit their stores. Also, all delivery businesses were closed as well. No Angkas, no Lalamove, no Grab, etc. The seller of these books was kind enough to reserve it under my name for almost two months, until there was actually a delivery service that delivers from her location to my boyfriend’s.

Along with Lauren Kate’s Passion and Rapture, I also bought Teardrop by the same author, and Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I’ve only read Eleanor & Park and loved it, so I am really looking forward to this.

I still have other book mails that arrived last week and this week, so I’ll be writing about them in a different post. So stay tuned and stay safe!

Book Mail: Quarantine Edition

20200921_103919_0000

Nine weeks into quarantine and I finally made my first online purchase and, yes, they are books and I am so happy! So it went like this, I was browsing through my Facebook feed one weekend which mainly consist of the usual memes, some of my friends’ rants or food they had for lunch, and whatnot when I stumbled upon this post from one of the bookish groups that I am a member of. This person, who is also a member of the group, was decluttering her shelves and decided to sell some of her books. When I saw the titles of the books she were selling, I immediately sent her a message to reserve the books under my name. It was actually an easy transaction because she made a Shopee link for the specific titles that I will be buying and also agreed for me to pay via COD (Cash On Delivery).

So what are the titles that I got, exactly? Continue reading

National Bookstore’s Book Blowout

Bookstore sales and secondhand bookstores are one of the most beautiful things on earth for a bookworm like me, and one of the leading bookstores in the Philippines just announced that they will hold their annual book blowout event in all of their Metro Manila branches!

I’ve seen a lot of awesome titles being posted around the web by my fellow bookworms. As for me, I don’t plan on buying any new books as I haven’t read most of the books I bought and received in the past couple of months, but when my boyfriend and I visited NBS’s Greenbelt 1 branch, I just couldn’t resist. I mean, these books are so cheap, I just needed to get them!

Book Haul: Scholastic Warehouse Sale

There are so many bookish events going on recently that’s just too hard to ignore. Last month, NBS had this huge (and crazy!) month-long sale. I spent almost every weekend looking for awesome titles and it was my birth month, so I feel like it’s okay to splurge every once in a while!

This month, it’s my cousins birth month and she’s also just as bookish as I am. So during the weekend, my grandfather decided to go to C. Raymundo, Pasig City so we could buy (or hoard, in our case) a lot of books.

NOTE: Please forgive me for the blurry shot

  1. Emily Windsnap and the Castle in the Mist by Liz Kessler
  2. Summer and the City by Candace Bushnell
  3. Skeleton Creek by Patrick Carman
  4. The Crossbones by Patrick Carman
  5. Trash by Andy Mulligan
  6. The Search For WondLa by Tony DiTerlizzi
  7. What’s Up With Jody Barton? by Hayley Long
  8. Every Soul A Star by Wendy Mass

Here are the books I got from the sale, I didn’t avail their Box-All-You-Can books, but I do got all these books for almost half their original prices, isn’t that amazing?! I’m still so happy that I found The Search For WondLa because, I swear, I’ve been looking for it in every bookstore!

I also picked up the three weeks’ worth of comic books I reserved. Finally, I was getting scared that they wouldn’t hold my reservation anymore. Ha ha

Now, I wonder when I’m going to get to finish reading all this, given that I’ve grown really busy this month and then this May, Fullybooked will be holding their annual Free Comic Book Day! I’m so hyped up because graphic novels will be at 20% off! For more details, click here and follow their Facebook and Twitter page. 🙂

Here’s a quick book haul post — It’s been a while since I last posted a haul on my blog. I haven’t been buying books lately because I told myself at the start of the year that I’m going to minimize my book buying since I still got a load of TBR piled up in my room. But my grandfather have a friend who is selling some of her son’s used books and guess where that lead me.

My grandfather got all these for only ₱420! Can you believe that? So anyway, I’m still reading Curiosity House: The Shrunken Head by Lauren Oliver and H.C. Chester. Plus, I read some comic books over the weekend:

TBR of the Month

These are the books that I’m hoping to finish this month.

As you all know, I’ve read the second book in the Mara Dyer series last November and I was hunting down the third book right after I finished reading it, but it always seemed out of stock, but just a few weeks ago, my officemate told me he saw it in a Fullybooked branch near their place in QC and yeah, I asked him to buy it for me. Finally, I’d be able to know the conclusion to Mara and Noah’s story! Meanwhile, I stumbled upon Kissing Ted Callahan and Other Boys yesterday and the cover was just so cute and I knew that I just had to have it!

There are so many things I’m looking forward to this month and I just can’t wait! Commissioner’s Cup will also start next week, so yeah, more basketball! Yay!
