I was hesitant to do this post as I’ve only read one audiobook for the month of May. 😅 I’ve been so busy the past month with all the weekend trips that we’ve planned out, but it never crossed my mind that I would be going home with a ring and an even busier schedule! 🙈 If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I just got engaged. I don’t want to go into more detail as I feel like I’ve covered everything I wanted to say in my previous blog post. Everything still feels surreal!

So going back to that one book that I was able to finish, I read Rolling in the Deep by Mira Grant. I heard about this from Gabby of Gabby Reads and instantly got intrigued by the plot. I knew I wouldn’t be able to find it in any of my local bookstores so I started browsing through Anyplay FM. Anyplay FM is a new audiobook and podcast streaming service that provides access to thousands of books and podcasts. I’ve been using this app for a couple of months now and it is very affordable compared to other audiobook services that I know! As you know, I’ve been exploring that magical world of audiobooks since the end of last year, and I’ve been really into memoirs especially if the author of the book is also the narrator of the audiobook. Check out their subscription packages or register for their free-trial here.

If you haven’t heard of Rolling in the Deep yet, it is about killer mermaids! I have always loved mermaid stories regardless of the genre and in this case, it’s filed under the horror or thriller genre. I really enjoyed listening to this during some of my free time (i.e., when I’m taking a bath). Here we follow the team that Imagine Network built for the mermaid documentary that they commissioned for. The plan was to use the Atargatis ship and sail to the Mariana Trench and explore and study the area as there have been rumors of mermaid sightings in the area. What they didn’t expect was to see actual mermaids with teeth. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars! For me it was a new take on mermaids and it was very interesting. I loved the audiobook as well.

I haven’t finished Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2) by Cassandra Clare, but I’m hoping to get to it this month. I’ll be busy in July again, so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to read the third book by then. But I’m really excited to finish this series, so I can finally move on to the next Shadowhunter novels.

As for my haul, I’m thinking of making a separate post for them as it was my first time since the pandemic to be able to visit Fully Booked BGC even for just a few minutes. ♡
