2025 Reading Plans

Happy New Year, everyone!

I had been meaning to bring this blog back to life, but decided to just wait for the new year to do so and now that we’re already a few days into 2025, I’m back and will be sharing my reading goals for this year.

Despite my inactivity here, I read quite a lot in 2024 with 157 books in total and it was my best reading year yet. And though I still intend to read plenty of books in 2025, I also plan on getting back into fantasy and catch up on my backlist or fantasy TBR so I’m already anticipating a slight decrease in the number of books by the end of this year because it takes quite some time for me to finish high fantasy books and series! I did set my Goodreads and Fable reading goal to 80 books compared to last year’s 70 though, so that’s still a lot, but I’m positive and that I can complete that by the end of the year.

Some of my reading goals for 2025 are:

  • Read more Japanese literature
  • Read more literary fiction
  • Read more local (Filipiniana) books
  • Put a dent on my fantasy TBR
  • Catch up with my comics/manga TBR
  • Finish reading the Farseer trilogy
  • Finish reading the Trials of Apollo series
  • Finish reading the Chestnut Springs series
  • Be smarter when it comes to buying books:
    • Only buy books from a series I already have/currently reading
    • Only buy book 1 of a new series once I’ve finished reading a series
    • For standalone books, I can buy some that I strongly feel like I will enjoy (e.g., books from a favorite author), otherwise, just read them via kindle
    • Don’t give in too much on sales

*I still won’t post monthly hopefuls or TBRs though because as a mood reader, I really suck at following them. Haha

Again, happy new year, everyone!

2023 Reading Resolutions

20211123_110930_0000

Happy New Year, dear readers! In 2022, I must say that a lot has happened to me as a reader. I let go of some of my books that I didn’t like all that much, I started reading more Japanese literature and Filipino literature, and so on. I was also able to actively participate in a book club that I appreciate so much.

Also, in 2022, I laid out various titles from my backlist as my reading resolution, but sadly, I was not able to do that. So this year, I decided to loosen up a bit and make a general list of reading goals that I want to achieve in 2023. I’m so excited because with this idea, I can pick random titles as long as they belong to the category, which I think is easier for me as a mood reader! I divided my reading goals into three parts, and here they are: Continue reading

October Reading Plans

20211123_110930_0000

I know I’m not good at following TBRs, but in the past two months, I lowkey tried creating one for myself and I was able to follow it—though not entirely as I usually run out of time to finish all of it, but I was able to stick to it by reading book from that specific list. So I figured that since I was able to that in the past two months, I can now re-introduce this section on my blog.

For this month, I plan to read books that lean towards the spooky and the creepy because, duh, it’s Halloween season! I live for this season and I look forward to it by devouring all things spooky. I am a bit of a scaredy-cat so the most “horror” that I can read are actually more from the thriller side of things like slashers and whodunnits. But this year, I plan on reevaluating my tolerance by reading some horror from authors like Stephen King and Adam Cesare. So without further ado, here are the books I plan to read this month:
stack of books

  • Pet Sematary by Stephen King
  • Mars, May Zombie by Chuckberry J. Pascual
  • The Troop by Nick Cutter
  • Clown in a Cornfield by Adam Cesare
  • The Chestnut Man by Søren Sveistrup

Hopefully I get to read these books and if time permits, I would also like to add other titles like Coraline by Neil Gaiman and Home Before Dark by Riley Sager. How about you? What are you planning to read this month?

Read 5, Buy 1

Hi, everyone! If you’ve been reading my entries on Stuff I’ve Been Reading Lately, you probably noticed that I have a book-buying problem. Please don’t judge me. Haha It would have been fine if I was reading a lot of books, but I can only read so much given my responsibilities and commitments lately. I know I’ve said that I’m proud that I was still able to complete (ahead of time!) my target of reading 12 books this year, and I really am proud of myself for that. Still, I need to control myself from hoarding so many books. Continue reading

2021 Reading Resolution & Plans

I know this is a week too late, but I’ve been trying to write this ever since January 1st and I just can’t seem to find the right words to write this blog post. I have a couple of resolutions in mind and have probably told a couple of my bookish friends about it. A couple of days ago, my friend Angele @ Angele Reads Books tagged me to do The New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge! Just like her, it’s my first book tag here on my blog and I’ve decided to do it along with my personal bookish resolutions. Continue reading
