Bali, Indonesia

For our second trip in 2024, we spent five days in Bali! It’s a place we’ve been meaning to visit for a while and had originally booked a trip to in 2020, but the pandemic forced the airline to cancel our flight. It feels so fulfilling to finally tick this off our list after four years.

On our first day, we arrived early in the morning and immediately went on a private tour to visit a Catholic church and a few temples.

We also tried Balinese coffee along with a few other varieties they offered as testers! It was so pretty, and I really liked the taste of most of the flavors.

My favorites are:
☆ Vanilla Coffee
☆ Avocado Coffee
☆ Mangosteen Tea
☆ Lemon Grass Tea
☆ Luwak Coffee

Below is the luwak, from which they get their luwak coffee. It’s a nocturnal animal, which is why it’s sleeping in the photo.

The following days were filled with water adventures and a few mini hikes. I never expected to be so mesmerized by the views since I’m not that into hiking, but they were absolutely stunning and well worth it.

During our night strolls, we also visited different branches of Periplus, the largest and most famous bookstore in Bali. I bought a copy of The Mysterious Marksman by Seno Gumira Ajidarma, a local book about the extrajudicial killings that took place in Indonesia from 1983 to 1985. I also found a very cheap copy of The Only One Left by Riley Sager, one of my favorite thriller authors.

I also enjoyed their food. I fell in love with their Mi Goreng and almost ordered it everywhere we went. Haha! It was just so good. Here are some of the food photos I took:

Lastly, we had another freediving session and, for the first time, got to see manta rays with my husband. It has been one of our dreams to see and swim with them, and we’re both so elated to have finally ticked that off our freediving list!
