Synopsis:

I’m a therapist, and I work with the most dangerous patients.

I’ve seen it all… A boy who planned to be the next school shooter. A patient with OCD whose loved ones really did suffer every time he missed a ritual. A choir boy who claimed he was being molested — not by a priest — but by God Himself. A patient with PTSD who gave me nightmares. A husband and wife who accused each other of abuse, and only one of them was telling the truth.

And how could I ever forget, Patient #220.

The problem is, my patients have a habit of dying. Sometimes I wonder if I’m the common denominator. Or maybe that’s just the cost of taking on exceptionally broken clients.

Either way, I’ll never stop trying to help.

Personal Thoughts:

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

In this short story, we follow Dr. Harper’s experiences with six of his most notorious patients. From a student who has all the signs of being the next school shooter to a suspicious family, these ‘patient files’ literally kept me up at night trying to get through a couple of pages despite my busy holidays schedule — this book is definitely unputdownable.

I found out about this book from my book club and I got intrigued because most of my co-members who have read it really said that it was worth the read. So I honestly went into this without knowing anything about it except for what the title says.

Now that I’ve read it, all I can say that it really is worth the read and deserves more hype. It’s confusing how I find it both creepy and funny. The therapist clearly has issues of his own and his patients are honestly top of the line crazy. It’s not something I read about often and I really enjoyed the stories!

I’m so excited to read the next books in this series. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a quick psychological thriller read.
