Have you ever experienced trying out something out of your comfort zone or trying out something you always thought you disliked? When it comes to reading, there are still a lot of genres I have yet to try. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while or if you know me personally, you already know that romance is my favorite genre because I grew up reading Nicholas Sparks and though I also find middle-grade books and books with a mix of YA fantasy + dystopian quite exciting reads because of their otherwise fast-paced plot and storyline, I haven’t read much books out of these genres.

Recently, though, as I’ve mentioned in the first episode of this series, I was convinced by my boyfriend to read Dan Brown and it was one of my most enjoyable reads of 2019. A month ago, I finished reading the first book in the Robert Langdon series, Angels & Demons. I was skeptical at first because I really liked Origin and I didn’t want to destroy my love for it if I ended up not liking the first book in the series. Now, I tend to feel like this quite a lot — like that time when a sequel to one of my favorite local films was produced 10 years after, I didn’t want to watch it because I’ve always thought that the first movie was perfect as is.

So going back to Dan Brown’s Angels & Demons, I didn’t know what to feel; I wanted to read it and don’t at the same time so I tried reading a couple of other books first. I eventually decided to read it and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made — it was really way better than Origin. You see, I never really thought I’d ever be into mystery/thrillers, but I am just so hooked. After two books from this series, my mind is made, I will definitely read the other remaining titles.

Sometime after finishing Angels & Demons, I was lost and didn’t know what to read next. I got a lot on my to-read list but sometimes it’s just so hard to jump right into another book when the last book you’ve read left a mark. So I started browsing through my e-book copies and those free e-books from Google Play Books and stumbled upon this title, Billionaire Rider (Fortine Riders MC, #1) by Lexy Timms. I have never heard of it, but it was just a couple of pages and I needed a light read. If you’re wondering what this book is all about, all I can say is this: Oh, it was a romance book, all right?

Well, I *personally think that though there are so much room for improvements, it’s a start and the characters really have chemistry. I even felt like I can relate to the main character; the way she feels like she’s trapped and always needs to follow what her parents say — aside from her parents being toxic and not being able to explore and experience life to the fullest, it’s also not helping her grow and stand independently. I think these points of view are a little too personal for me, so I’ll leave it there.

Some of the books I plan on reading are Timeline by Michael Crichton and Royal Holiday by Jasmine Guillory which was recently release on October 1st, so I’m excited to see how it goes.
