Anilao, Batangas: Camp Netanya

Just a two to three-hour drive away from Manila’s busy streets is the province of Batangas which is known for its many beaches and excellent diving spots; and situated in one of Batangas’ popular towns is this Santorini-inspired resort that is famous for its aesthetically pleasing domes and interior.

In May, my boyfriend and I spent a weekend at one of Anilao’s resorts which turned out to be one of the most peaceful and relaxing weekends I’ve had in a long while. Last weekend was spent at Camp Netanya, this time, with some of our workmates. It’s September and it was raining and we were late because we attended our company’s annual bowling event the night before and we spent almost two and a half hours on the road going home from Makati. It wasn’t as peaceful, but it was really fun.

What I personally liked about the place was the calmness that the place flaunts. I am always a sucker for places that make me feel relaxed and forget all about my stresses and problems. I mean, what are vacations for if not for that, right? Another thing I liked about the resort was their Greek-inspired interior that made the experience a little bit more fun and relaxing. I could’ve said that it made me feel like I’m in a different world, but that’s saying a lot, don’t you think?

The staff was also very hospitable, the only problem was that we arrived there early (at around 10-ish in the morning and our check-in time was 2 p.m.), so we opted for an early check-in but it was not accommodated at all. The receptionist told us that our room is being prepared, but it took us two hours before we were escorted in our room. Anyway, so while we were waiting for our room to be prepared, we had lunch at the resort’s very own Greeka restaurant. The food was sumptuous, though quite pricey. We also tried their cocktails which we think tasted quite bland and lacks that alcohol kick.

The pool was supposed to be unavailable during our stay because it’s scheduled for renovation, thus the untiled flooring of the pool in the photos. I liked the pool regardless because of the 12-foot deep area since we didn’t get to enjoy the sea that much because of the strong waves (it was actually raining during our stay so).

Nonetheless, I enjoyed our stay not only because of the place but because I got to spend a whole week with the person I want to spend the rest of my days with. This year has been full of unexpected adventures, so far, and I’m looking forward to more, hopefully.
