Trigger Warning: Graphic violence, morbid, gory
Stephanie Perkins, as we all know, is a romance author and I loved Anna and the French Kiss so much that I was so thrilled to read another one of her works. Since I became such a huge fan of thrillers in recent years, I just thought, “Why not?” I picked up There’s Someone Inside Your House blindly, except for the fact that it’s a different genre from her usual fluffy, feel-good contemporary novels.
Romance is still a huge part of this novel and I honestly loved that it is. Aside from that, the book starts with the first murder in town. It was very graphically described, thus, it’s very gory and morbid. I am huge fan of slasher films and stories, so this was the perfect read for me. It was such a page-turner and I couldn’t help but fly through it.
It was blood-chilling and freaky, but also lovely and romantic.
