Malaysia Day 1: Malacca City

It took 4 hours and a couple minutes to get to Malacca from Singapore. If I remember it correctly, I think it was a little after 1 a.m. when we arrived at the Malacca Terminal. It was one heck of a crazy experience arriving there at that hour — from trying to connect to the internet using our newly bought Malaysian sim to trying to hire a cab or booking from Grab. It took us a couple of hours before we finally found someone to drive us to our hotel only to find out that we couldn’t book for an early checkin because they are already on full-house. Good thing there was a nearby hotel where we stayed for the rest of the night (+ inclusive breakfast. Yay!).

Asiatic Hotel’s breakfast buffet was heavenly, for me, at least. Plus, they have really cute couches and a wall full of mugs which I admired, really. I think we ate so much that we didn’t realize we haven’t eaten lunch until around 3 p.m. Before going to our first destination for the day, we went to Faithview Hotel & Suites (the hotel which we booked from Agoda) to leave our stuff.

Our first stop for the day was the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple. I never thought temples as such would pique my curiosity as when I was a kid,we used to visit a temple similar to this and that was the Taoist Temple in Cebu City. That was also the only temple I’ve ever been to. When we were about to leave Cheng Hoon Teng, we noticed another temple just across it which is the Xiang Lin Si Temple, so we decided to visit it as well.

Then we went to The Shore Sky Tower, which I thought was really scary because of its glass floors but it was actually really beautiful given that you get to see almost the whole city from atop the tower.

Next on our list was the Christ Church which we then learned that Stadthuys, A’Famosa, St. Paul’s Church, and the Melaka Sultanate Palace was just walking distance from each other.

Our hotel, Faithview Hotel & Suites, has a swimming pool! So, of course, we took advantage of the pool access and took a quick dip before going to our last stop in Malacca. The pool has a really nice view facing the city.

The final stop was the Melaka Menara Taming Sari. It was this revolving gyro tower wherein you can get a good glimpse of Malacca. And then we had dinner at Mcdonald’s just so we could tell the difference between their chicken burger and the ones we order back home.

Ending this post with, of course, an obligatory #OOTD.
