Puerto Princesa & El Nido, Palawan

Hello, everyone. This is such an overdue post and I want to catch this blog up in terms of documenting my travels, so here’s the details of our 5-day Palawan trip back in June 2023. I got writer’s block due to working as a writer during the past year and a half, that’s why I wasn’t able to share this experience here, but I’m back so here goes! I will also be posting my 2024 travels in the next few weeks.

Anyway, my husband and I make it a point to travel to one local destination and one interantional destination per year and on our anniversary in February 2023, we went to Thailand, so in June we decided to go to Palawan.

It was my first time to visit the underground river in Puerto Princesa and I didn’t expect to be so mesmerized by it. To be honest, I still think about it sometimes. It’s so beautiful and the fact that it isn’t manmade and that the rocks formed those shapes and figures by itself is just magical. I don’t have photos inside the cave because it was so dark and we aren’t allowed to use flash to retain the peacefulness of the place and not to disturb the bats. Instead, here’s a photo of the cave entrance.

I loved my morena skin tone during this trip!

After visitincng the underground river and having lunch, we travelled to El Nido for 5 hours. It was dizzying, to be honest, so if you have motion sickness, I suggest you bring some meds.

El Nido was worth it, though. It was so beautiful and I understood immediately why tourists love it there. Here are some of the photos I took along with food photos:

My husband and I also allocated a whole day for freediving and it was such a great adventure for us. It was also our first wreck!

On our last day, we almost had the whole day before our flight back home (which also got delayed due to some minor issues with the plane), so we got to roam around Puerto Princesa once again. We bought pasalubongs and visited Baker’s Hill, Mitra’s Ranch, Immaculate Conception Church, Puerto Princesa Baywalk Park, and had halo-halo at Nokinocs—our driver said that this is comparable to Manila’s Razon’s so we definitely had to check it out!
